Southwest Edmonton Home Styles
Home styles and homes for sale in Southwest Edmonton are every bit as diverse as the communities in which they occupy. Single-family homes in the area range in size and style (everything from older character bungalows to multi-million-dollar luxury properties), with prices typically starting as low as the mid 200s. Southwest Edmonton’s developing neighbourhoods currently offer many new construction single-family homes to choose from, outfitted with the latest finishes and features.
Though single detached family homes are the predominant home style in Southwest Edmonton, the area is not without a broad selection of low-maintenance apartment-style condos, affordable townhomes and spacious duplexes.
Condos and townhomes typically range between the mid 100s and low 400s, making them an excellent option for those in search of an affordable new home. These attached and semi-detached styles can also be found in various neighbourhoods throughout Southwest Edmonton, including the area’s many developing communities.
Southwest Edmonton Communities
Southwest Edmonton is home to seven larger districts, which house the area’s many distinct neighbourhoods, outlined below. Heritage Valley is the largest of these districts and includes many of the quadrant’s newest communities.
Old Strathcona remains the oldest of Southwest Edmonton’s many districts, with many communities pre-existing as a separate municipality (City of Strathcona) before amalgamating with the greater City of Edmonton in the early 1900s.
The remaining districts of Kaskitayo, Petrolia, Riverbend, Terwillegar Heights and Windermere house a variety of unique neighbourhoods, both new and established, each offering its own distinct character and charm.
