MacTaggart is a relatively newer neighbourhood located along the southwestern edge of Edmonton. Construction began here in 2005 and the community is designed to encourage pedestrian and bicycle travel within MacTaggart and neighbouring areas. The areas takes its name from philanthropist Sandy Auld MacTaggart, for whom the nearby nature sanctuary is also named. MacTaggart primarily consists of single-family homes starting from the low 600s, low-density apartments, and luxury homes with prices ranging up to the multi-millions.
This luxury community is located in the Terwillegar Heights area and lies between MacTaggart Nature Sanctuary and Rabbit Hill Road. Neighbourhood residents enjoy an easy commute of twenty-five to thirty minutes by car to reach downtown. There's easy access to the Edmonton Transit System via Macgrath Boulevard and McClung Crescent North and the community also enjoys excellent access to Anthony Henday Drive. As mentioned, the neighbourhood is well-connected by bicycle and pedestrian pathways within the community as well as in the MacTaggart Nature Sanctuary, located along the Whitemud Creek ravine.
Plenty of Amenities
MacTaggart has many terrific amenities for you and your family to enjoy. For nature-lovers, the biggest is obviously the close proximity of the nature sanctuary. The sanctuary is filled with trails, many of which are unimproved, drawing hikers and casual walkers closer to the natural world. The pathways through the sanctuary offer many scenic vistas of the ravine that encompasses Whitemud Creek. Despite the closeness of residential areas and the city itself, the sanctuary offers a wide variety of wildlife, including deer and innumerable varieties of woodland birds. If you want your kids to grow up with an appreciation for nature, having the sanctuary nearby can be a terrific advantage.
There's more to MacTaggart than wildlife and wilderness areas. This includes a highly rated restaurant, XIX Nineteen, which serves some of the best Asian-inspired cuisine in Edmonton, prepared by a world-class chef. XIX Nineteen offers fine dining quality meals in a more relaxed atmosphere that encourages family and friends to dine together and enjoy each other's company.
MacTaggart is also home to numerous professional and business services, including legal services and veterinary needs. MacTaggart Veterinary Clinic receives especially high reviews for their quality of care. If you are moving to the neighbourhood with your family pets, you can rest assured they will be in good hands. Other businesses are currently in the works to create a community that will meet all of your needs.
